Description

Acadian Ambulance has an immediate opening for a Medical ICD Coding Specialist to join our Acadian Client Services team at our Kaliste Saloom location in Lafayette, LA.   The Medical ICD Coding Specialist reviews medical documentation and accurately assigns the appropriate billing ICD-10 codes for accurate claims processing according to federal and state guidelines.


Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Code documents according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations, ICD-10 coding guidelines, and company billing policies
  • Review medical records for appropriate medical and billing information while seeking clarification when necessary
  • Promote a positive rapport with field medics while utilizing effective customer service skills
  • Incorporate quality improvement measures which are found during the auditing process
  • Assist CDC management with process refinement
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years previous medical ICD coding experience preferred
  • Medical Certification or ICD-10 Coding Certification preferred
  • Proficient in Google, MS Office Suite or related software  
  • Problem-solving abilities 
  • Good communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10 coding guidelines (CPC preferred)
  • Familiarity with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services regulations (ambulance)
  • Maintain good personal motivation; develop a sense of ownership of job tasks and results
  • Must have a sense of urgency for all work performed
  • Professional work ethic and dress code
  • Ability to adhere to productivity goals, departmental and company guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Maintain highest level of confidentiality
  • Punctual with strong attendance history
