Description

We are seeking a seasoned full-time Senior Network Administrator to join our dedicated IT team. This role requires a current CCNP certification and is ideal for an individual passionate about managing complex network infrastructures and potentially advancing their expertise towards CCIE certification. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to design, implement, and maintain critical Cisco network solutions within a demanding life and safety, 24/7, mission-critical Emergency Medical Services (EMS) environment. You will utilize your advanced technical skills to ensure the continuous, reliable network operations essential for emergency management services, working closely with internal teams and enterprise clients on impactful projects.

ENGAGEMENT DETAILS:

We're looking for a permanent team member to support our mission-critical operations in a dynamic 24/7 environment. While the role follows standard business hours (around 40 per week), flexibility is key—including participation in an on-call rotation.

This is a remote-friendly position, but we do prefer candidates located within driving distance of our major hubs in Louisiana (Lafayette, Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, Monroe, or New Orleans), Texas (Beaumont, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, or Dallas), or Tennessee (Memphis or Nashville) for occasional in-person collaboration.

We offer a competitive salary based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll be coordinating with our team through email, video conferencing, and project management tools.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This job description is not intended, nor should it be construed, to be an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, duties, skills, or working conditions associated with the job.

  • Design & Implementation: Architect, configure, and manage enterprise-grade Cisco network solutions—including routers, switches, and wireless systems—in a mission-critical EMS environment.
  • Network Optimization: Implement upgrades, patches, and configuration changes to enhance performance, security, and reliability vital for life and safety operations.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Utilize industry-standard tools to continuously monitor network performance and proactively address connectivity or performance issues in a 24/7 operational setting.
  • Advanced Configuration: Configure and manage routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and network segmentation (VLANs, VPNs) to ensure efficient data flow across the network, especially under emergency conditions.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed network documentation including topology diagrams, configuration settings, and change logs to support compliance and rapid issue resolution.
  • Collaboration & Mentoring: Work with IT teams and external stakeholders to align network solutions with business needs, while mentoring peers and sharing expertise in Cisco technologies.
  • Professional Growth: Actively engage in projects involving advanced network challenges within a life-critical EMS setting, fostering continuous learning and supporting professional development goals, including potential progress towards CCIE certification.
  • Policy Development: Assist in developing and enforcing network policies and procedures to support continuous improvement, risk management, and the rigorous demands of a 24/7 EMS operation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise-level Cisco network administration with a strong background in implementing and managing Cisco environments.
  • Required: Current and valid CCNP certification.
  • In-depth CCNP Level Expertise:
  • Proven experience with Cisco Catalyst switches, Integrated Services Routers (ISR), and Cisco wireless solutions.
  • Solid command of Cisco IOS configuration and troubleshooting, including advanced topics covered in CCNP exams such as advanced routing, switching, and network security.
  • Proficiency in configuring and optimizing Cisco routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and implementing scalable network designs.
  • Experience with network services such as QoS, multicast, VPNs, and network segmentation in line with CCNP best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and optimize performance using industry-standard tools.
  • Desired: A clear commitment and plan to achieve CCIE certification is highly desirable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
