About the Role: Do you have a passion for training and developing others? We have a unique opportunity for a suitably qualified Learning and Development (L&D) Consultant to join the team at Portland Aluminium! Reporting directly to the Superintendent – Learning & Development, the L&D Consultant will optimise activities to support the business plan and overall efficiency for the location. In this role, your key duties will be:
  • Providing functional leadership in the deployment of standard methodology systems and measures across the location. (safety, process, mechanical, business improvement, interpersonal, mobile skills, technical, apprentices and traineeships).
  • Supervising a small team of multi-disciplined area training and development coordinators and process operator trainees.
  • Sharing and implementing best practice processes across the site.
  • Ensuring that training processes align to Alcoa Operations standards and legislative requirements, and are correctly deployed into the operating areas.
  • Measuring the health of training within the smelter and facilitates continual improvement in the pursuit of operational excellence.
  • Designing, developing and facilitating learning and development programs.
  • Providing strong leadership ensuring continual improvement and achieving consistent high standards at all levels.
  • Working within a network of L&D Consultants and Training support functions across multiple locations to ensure the Smelter transfers best practice initiatives.

What you can bring to the role: To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline (Preferred)
  • Certificate IV Training & Assessment (minimum)
  • Knowledge and experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g. TRACESSTM is preferred but not mandatory)
  • Understanding of Training related directions at a National and State Level e.g. Australian Quality Training Framework.
  • Proven experience managing training programs in a related industry

About the Location

Our Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%).
