The Role:

AMD's Partner Support Field Applications Engineering Organization is responsible for supporting our OEM and ODM partners as they define and develop new platforms based on AMD technology.

We are looking for our next team member to support our Field Applications Engineering lab infrastructure (aka the LAB) in Munich which is required to enable development activity, performance assessment and debug efforts with our internal and external partners. To work with our global Lab team and regional FAEs to define, plan and execute our lab infrastructure plans. To help build the infrastructure needed to ensure successful engagements with our partners, requiring planning and implementation of all aspects of our lab while ensuring that enabled systems are operational and performing accurately to support debug and development activity as we engage with our customers.

  Key Responsibilities:   Main focus:

Knowledgeable and comfortable with the hardware and software ecosystem needed to support The LAB needs. Including desktop and server systems (benchtop and rackmount), networking, storage, system operations, debug, and repair of hardware as needed. Software and networking experience is vital to fully configure and enable the hardware for internal and remote access.

Responsible for strategy, lab procurement, and helping to run the execution of lab priorities. This may include the active role of racking, stacking and maintaining desktops and servers as well as providing lose items (DRAM, NVMe drives, NICs etc.) for both rack and bench systems. Candidate would serve as a key enabler for offsite (regional) resources by resetting systems, swapping out parts and providing overall scheduling for server usage.

  Responsibilities will include:
  • Working with team to define lab strategy.
  • Manage CAPEX and OPEX expenses associated with The LAB.
  • Drive activity to achieve tactical and strategic goals.
  • Build and maintain hardware ecosystem for internal and remote access (POC).
  • Manage FAE NPI reference platforms, debug tools and sample requirements.
  • Install and test solutions in-house, as required, to ensure successful deployments and evaluations.
  • Drive a common process across the global FAE Labs.
  • Lead technical planning sessions to align on The LAB plans.
  • Provide hands-on, expert-level technical assistance to The LAB.
  • Be a credible authority to the FAE team to articulate The LAB capabilities.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • 7+ years professional experience, Management experience is a plus!
  • Experience in desktop and server hardware, software, operation, and debug
  • Expertise/Knowledge of all major x86 OS/Hypervisors
  • Experience running a Datacenter or Colo
  • Broad technical understanding of CPU and GPU technology
  • Experience with enterprise grade networking
  Academic Credentials:

Min BS in a technical field (E.g. Engineering, Computer Science)
