THE TEAM

The AECG - Embedded Team builds and optimizes platforms for embedded and commercial applications, working across silicon, firmware, and software to deliver reliable, high‑performance solutions at scale.

 

THE ROLE:

AMD's embedded business unit is looking for a senior leader in product/NPI program management for the exciting role of leading a team of program managers chartered to drive execution of key development programs cradle-to-grave, realizing roadmap into real embedded products into the hands of our customers. Besides leading the team, this person may also have to take program management ownership of one of the embedded product lines as and when necessary to get things started from ground-up. AMD's Embedded Business is part of AECG (Adaptive and Embedded Computing Group).

 

Product line program management requires you to drive the execution of entire product stack where different deliverables are coming from different engineering teams/functions across AMD. These functions will be pre-silicon, SoC Engineering, Post-Silicon validation, BIOS development, reference boards, board operations, driver development, use-case validation, quality, yield product engineering etc. With keeping the big picture view of end-to-end program plan and execution, you should co-ordinate and iron-out dependencies among different engineering teams to make sure all the intermediary milestones are being met and execution remains on track. Success of the program will be defined as meeting or beating the scope, schedule and spend of the program.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Lead the product program management team with exceptional leadership and scale the team in competency and bandwidth for increasing number and scope of the programs.
  • Provide strong oversight and guidance to all the program managers for different product line programs and drive to sort out any dependencies or other bottlenecks in those programs.
  • Make sure the programs follow their execution metrics and any changes are tackled with agility and quick planning.
  • Coordinate and drive the concept, feasibility and planning exit milestones with the full ownership of securing right approvals from the senior management on those gate reviews.
  • Drive key initiatives for the BU level challenges like yield improvements, improving DPPMs and adoption of methodologies like ASPICE.
  • As part of the program execution, prepare end-to-end plan starting with the NPI phases for planning, execution and then post-NPI phases of derivative programs.
  • Craft and deploy lightweight processes for strong rigor/discipline to constantly uplevel the execution focus and efficiency. Lead and drive these process adoptions across the overall program management org.
  • Manage and handle escalations with a sense of urgency and proactive problem solving.
  • Prepare and present program status reports to executive and highlighting risks, data for pros cons analysis of decision making.
  • Drive cross functional alignment among different teams including the other program managers.
  • Share best practices with other product program management organizations.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Extensive experience in a similar role in semiconductors companies. X86 Product program management experience will be a big plus.
  • Experience in leading a team of NPI program managers at director level or above and creating/deploying processes for efficiency and scale.
  • Strong Program Management and Execution skills and well-versed with different project management tools.
  • Good breadth and strong technical knowledge (SoC, BIOS, Platforms, SW, Tools, Manufacturing) and experience in overall product stack and not just limited to silicon.
  • Proven track record of enabling several NPI programs resulting in successful products.
  • Experience working in a multisite and multi-cultural environment and ability to travel as needed.
  • Team player with passion and hunger to do whatever it takes for business success.
  • Automotive product experience will be a big-plus.
  • Excellent communication skills. Excellent skills of managing up with right set of data/reports to executives for visibility and decision making.
    • Ability to align, resolve conflicts and build consensus among parties working towards the final goal.
    • High sense of urgency and drive for results.
    • Relentless focus on customer satisfaction.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

BSCS or Masters in Engineering preferred 

PMP is a nice to have
