Fall 2024 Advanced Microelectronics/Nanotechnology Co-op/Intern

 

JOB LOCATION:  Austin, Texas 

 

ONSITE: This role requires the student to work from the Austin office throughout the duration of the Co-op/Intern term.   

 

PROGRAM TERM: Fall 2024: Start Date August 19th or September 9th, 2024 

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: 

 

FTO (Foundry Technology Operations) is responsible for ensuring AMD has the latest and greatest process technology available to support future product introductions. We work with our foundry suppliers to ensure our mutual success. Our team designs and builds test chips into the new technology to ensure it is ready for high volume production. Typical areas of activity are design, testing, quality, reliability, yield analysis and production support. FTO works horizontally across several functional organizations and is a key enabler for ensuring AMD market success on subsequent products. Be prepared, FTO is fast paced and provides opportunities to contribute across multiple disciplines. 

  • Expedite the validation and ramp on advanced technology.
  • Contributions will span many areas including methodology development, device characterization, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
  • As a key member of the team, you will have clearly defined deliverables that tie directly to the company's success. 
  • Assist Product Development Engineers in test development, Si debug, and characterization. 
  • Perform engineering and correlation studies to ensure yield and reliability meet corporate goals. 
  • Participate on cross-functional teams, work closely with R&D team, and help resolve design related issues. 
  • Interface with designers and foundry support personnel in support of project milestones.
  • Develop your technical abilities in a very specialized and rewarding field.
  • Become a proactive team member that shows initiative and innovation, 
  • Learn to communicate effectively in professional team environment, 
  • Network with like-minded, experienced engineers, and 
  • Contribute novel and valuable ideas for the benefit of the team.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Semiconductor Theory
  • Microelectronics & Fabrication background
  • Yield Engineering
  • Statistics 
  • Software/Scripting capability (RTL/Verilog, Perl/Python) 
  • Computer hardware 

WHAT WOULD SET YOU APART:

  • Machine Learning is a plus!
  • SQL queries are a plus!

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Currently pursuing MS or PhD in Microelectronics, Electronics, Computer Science, or Materials Science.
  • Strong organizational, computer and communication skills
