THE ROLE: 

AMD is looking for a software development engineer who is passionate about improving the performance of real-time graphics. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.  

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate should be passionate about real-time graphics and possess problem solving skills to drive technical issues to resolution. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with different teams across AMD. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Proficiency in 3D graphics or GPU Compute using APIs like Direct3D, Vulkan, OpenGL, OpenCL, CUDA
• Reading and writing of GPU Shaders
• Understanding of GPU HW architecture
• Ability to read low level languages (x86 asm, SSE, ISA)
• General software development workflow knowledge: git, cmake, CI, etc
• Debugging and Profiling of complex issues within deployed software using a variety of developer tooling.
• Programming in C and/or C++ and Python
• Ability to share specific knowledge, and learn on the job when needed
• Strong communication skills in English

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• Working understanding of image-based Machine Learning fundamentals
• Programming background, working with system APIs and writing own clear APIs, C and/or C++ preferred 
• Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail, following applicable coding standards where applicable
• Experience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs (CUDA, HIP, SYCL/DPCPP)
• Experience in compilers, 3D graphics or GPGPU drivers or related low-level, real-time performance SW development
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating system development  
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• Degree in Computer Science or related subject
