THE ROLE:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Hardware Test Engineer to work on cutting-edge high-speed interconnect technologies with our NTSG - Network Technologies Solutions Group. If you are passionate about hardware testing and validation in high-speed systems, and you have expertise in signal and power integrity, we encourage you to apply and join our dynamic team. We are seeking a talented and experienced Hardware Test Engineer to join our team, focusing on high-speed interconnect optimization, validation, and compliance testing.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of signal integrity and power integrity fundamentals, with extensive hands-on experience in validating and testing NRZ and PAM4 SerDes for PCIe Gen5/6 and 400G/800G Ethernet designs. You will be working with both copper and optical links, testing high-speed interconnects, and ensuring the designs meet industry standards. Familiarity with various lab equipment and measurement tools like TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer), VNA (Vector Network Analyzer), BERT (Bit Error Rate Tester), and others will be essential in performing complex hardware validation tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- High-Speed Interconnect Optimization: Work on the optimization of high-speed interconnects (copper and optical) for PCIe Gen5/Gen6 and 400G/800G Ethernet systems. Focus on both signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) aspects to ensure reliable performance.
- Signal Integrity and Power Integrity Analysis: Analyze and improve the signal integrity and power integrity of high-speed designs. Perform in-depth analysis of transmission channels, PCB traces, and connector interfaces to optimize performance.
- SerDes Validation: Validate and test NRZ and PAM4 SerDes designs for PCIe Gen5/Gen6 and Ethernet systems. Ensure compliance with industry standards for throughput, error rates, jitter, and signal quality.
Channel Characterization: Perform comprehensive channel characterization for high-speed copper and optical links. Use advanced measurement techniques to assess the quality of the transmission channels, including reflection, crosstalk, and loss. - Compliance Testing: Conduct rigorous validation and compliance testing according to PCI-SIG, IEEE, and other industry standards. Ensure designs meet required specifications for high-speed interfaces like PCIe Gen5/Gen6 and 400G/800G Ethernet.
- Clock Jitter Analysis: Perform clock jitter measurements and analysis to optimize the timing and synchronization of high-speed systems. Ensure low jitter and reliable data transmission across the links.
PDN Impedance Analysis: Analyze Power Delivery Network (PDN) impedance to ensure proper power distribution and minimize noise and voltage fluctuations across the system. - Lab Equipment & Test Setup: Use and maintain high-performance lab equipment such as TDR, VNA, BERT, and oscilloscopes to conduct detailed signal integrity and power integrity tests. Develop and execute test procedures to validate high-speed designs under different operating conditions.
- Failure Analysis & Troubleshooting: Investigate and diagnose issues related to signal integrity, power integrity, and overall system performance. Provide effective solutions to complex engineering problems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with hardware engineers, firmware engineers, and systems teams to ensure proper integration and testing of high-speed interconnects. Provide technical guidance and insights for design improvements.
- Documentation & Reporting: Document test results, methodologies, and analysis in clear and detailed reports. Provide actionable recommendations for hardware optimizations based on test findings.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware validation, signal integrity, and compliance testing for high-speed interconnects, including NRZ and PAM4 SerDes.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) principles.
- In-depth experience with NRZ and PAM4 SerDes for PCIe Gen5/6 and 400G/800G Ethernet designs.
- Expertise in high-speed copper and optical links, including channel characterization and compliance testing.
- Familiarity with clock jitter measurements, PDN impedance analysis, and optimization of high-speed interconnects.
- Experience with test equipment such as TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer), VNA (Vector Network Analyzer), BERT (Bit Error Rate Tester), and other signal measurement tools.
Skills:
- Proficiency in high-speed PCB design validation and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with measurement and characterization of high-speed passive components.
- Knowledge of high-speed protocols, including PCIe (Gen5/Gen6), Ethernet (400G/800G), and related technologies.
