THE ROLE: 

We are seeking for MTS Systems Design Engineer to drive the architectural definition, design, and implementation of our next-generation systems. This senior role is a critical catalyst in our engineering organization, focusing on high-level system architecture, cross-functional collaboration, and technical mentorship. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.  

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced technical expert who defines and drives the development of complex, high-performance systems with deep domain expertise. You are team-driven and motivated to do things that others might find too difficult.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Define and document complex, end-to-end system architectures, specifications, and design strategies (hardware, software, or network), ensuring alignment with product roadmaps and business objectives.
• Translate high-level business and product requirements into detailed, actionable technical specifications, schematics, and design documents.
• Independently evaluate, and recommend cutting-edge technologies, components (silicon, hardware, or software frameworks), and design techniques to optimize system performance and cost. 
• Drive the design, implementation, and integration of core system blocks and features, emphasizing robustness, fault tolerance, and efficiency.
• Serve as the final escalation point for LAB equipment, delivering resolution across hardware, firmware, and software layers
• Lead technical collaboration and consensus-building efforts with multi-disciplinary teams

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• 8+ years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture, or System-Level Validation, with at least 3 years operating in a senior, lead.
• Deep understanding of hardware architecture, memory subsystems, and high-speed interfaces and required infrastructure
• Proficient in one or more programming/scripting languages C/C++, Bash, Python
• Exceptional analytical and diagnostic skills for triaging and resolving complex system-level integration and performance issues
• Deep understanding of networking protocols and network devices lines
• Expert knowledge within operating systems (Linux / Windows / macOS)
• Proficiency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the proven ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer / Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
