THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to drive data center optical transceiver qualification and system optics testing, with responsibilities spanning electrical/optical validation, automation, and interoperability testing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with 400G/800G/1.6T optics, 100G/200G-PAM4 per-lane signaling, and industry standards such as IEEE, OIF and MSA CMIS, along with strong knowledge of data center switch software configuration, optical transceiver firmware operation, and high-speed SerDes validation and debug at the system level. A deep understanding of optical module functional blocks and host switch integration is essential for success in this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive optical transceiver qualification plans, covering electrical,      optical, and full system-level validation.
  • Perform data center system compliance, performance, and interoperability testing for 100G/200G-  PAM4 per-lane transceivers (400G/800G/1.6T) across a range of operating conditions.
  • Configure, validate, and debug data center switches using CLI, and automation scripts.
  • Verify host-module interoperability, link training, lane tuning, and signal integrity, including high-        speed SerDes validation and debug at the system level.
  • Validate compliance with MSA CMIS (v4.0+) and SFF-8636 specifications, including diagnostics,      state machines, and memory maps.
  • Automate test execution, data collection, and reporting using Python or similar scripting languages.
  • Perform environmental and reliability stress testing, including thermal cycling, power stress, voltage margining, and long-duration soak tests.
  • Analyze results, identify root causes, and drive resolution in collaboration with R&D, firmware, and  supplier engineering teams.
  • Support vendor qualification, platform bring-up, optical transceiver firmware validation, and release readiness activities.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in the optical networking or high-speed data communications industry
  • Strong hands-on experience with 100G/200G per lane optical transceivers and DAC cables such as QSFP-DD/OSFP/QSFP112, 400G/800G/1.6T
  • In-depth knowledge of optical transceiver functional blocks and how they impact system performance
  • Familiar with host software switch configuration and testing, for example, Tomahawk based switches
  • Experience with: industry standards – IEEE and OIF, MAS – CMIS and SFF-8636, I2C communication, memory map register control. Lab instruments: DCA-X, BERT, real-time scope, OSA, power meters
  • Skilled in Python scripting for automation and data processing
  • Strong understanding of SerDes tuning eye diagrams, jitter, and electrical compliance
  • Experience working across both module and system (host) sides of the link

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related
