Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring PMTS Systems Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses. Responsible for all technical aspects of silicon feature enablement, production validation, and early customer engagement of Graphics ASICs with the associated platform hardware, firmware and software components. Review and approve all Platform and Validation Team technical content for Program Milestone review. Communicate feature prioritization and trade off as well as technical issues, risks & status updates to Program Core Team. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires five (5) years of experience with the following:

• Performing hardware and software verification;
• Design flows and methodologies used for chip verification;
• Defining and verifying IP or SOC-level features and architecture;
• SoC, GPU, or CPU architecture;
• C, C++, TCL, Perl, or Python;
• Software debugging in Linux or Unix environments;
• SoC and system architecture and SoC- or system-level debug; and
• Leading issue resolution in architecture and design parameters of ICs.
