THE ROLE:
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the Data Center Platform Engineering Group, you will drive the mechanical design for AMD's next-generation server and GPU platforms. This role is highly technical and influential, requiring deep expertise in mechanical systems and product integration. You will play a key role in shaping the physical design of AMD's high-power platforms, ensuring robust and manufacturable solutions.

The ideal candidate is an experienced mechanical engineering professional who combines technical excellence with strategic thinking. You have a strong background in mechanical design including server and GPU systems, data center infrastructure, and cross-functional collaboration. You thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex design challenges, and can influence technical direction across teams and product lines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the mechanical design for advanced server and GPU platforms.
- Develop detailed mechanical designs and prototypes; validate through simulation, analysis, and physical testing.
- Collaborate with system architecture, board, validation, and manufacturing teams to ensure cohesive product development and system reliability.
- Represent AMD in technical reviews, customer engagements, and industry forums.
- Provide consultative direction to senior leadership on mechanical strategy and design trade-offs.
- Mentor engineers, guide technical direction across functional boundaries, and foster innovation.
- Make critical decisions impacting multiple product families, go-to-market readiness, and overall customer satisfaction.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Proven expertise in mechanical design for server and rack solutions.
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Creo).
- Familiarity with DFM principles and manufacturing processes for high-volume production.
- Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration with electrical, thermal, and validation teams.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across organizations.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field (minimum Bachelor's required).
