SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
THE ROLE:
The AMD Design Software Verification team plays a critical role in verifying the AMD/Xilinx EDA tool chain for both pre- and post-silicon support.
We are looking for talented mid-level engineers to join our team in Yerevan and help ensure that our software meets customer needs and maintains the highest quality.
THE PERSON:
We're seeking an engineer with a strong understanding of FPGA and ASIC design flows, excellent scripting and algorithm development skills, and experience in EDA tool verification. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, multi-site environment, and brings a solid foundation in electronics, logic design, and test automation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be an integral part of an agile Design Solution Verification (DSV) team assuring the quality of Xilinx tools.
- Define use models, scope, and priority for testing new software features.
- Create test plans based on product specifications.
- Maintain and develop automated tests for various product areas and components.
- Collaborate with other testing resources and teams for comprehensive test coverage.
- Conduct manual testing and explore customer design flows.
- Provide developers with targeted test-cases to validate features.
- Stay updated with modern testing tools and strategies.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- At least 3 years of experience working in an EDA company.
- Hands-on experience with FPGA or ASIC design tools.
- Familiarity with software development processes, build & test systems, and automation tools.
- Experience working in integrated, multi-site, English-speaking teams, including participation in cross-site meetings and conference calls.
- Use of task/issue tracking systems and understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of static and dynamic software quality tools (e.g., coverage, memory, performance analysis).
- Strong knowledge of digital logic design principles, Boolean algebra.
- Understanding of EDA workflows and challenges at each design stage.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical circuits, semiconductor behavior, and basic propagation rules (Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's Laws, etc.).
- Familiarity with FPGA design and development.
- Scripting and algorithm development skills in languages such as Python, TCL, Bash, or PERL.
- Experience working in UNIX environments and with shell scripting (csh/bash/tclsh).
- Ability to interpret Marketing Requirement Documents and Implementation Specifications to create professional, comprehensive test plans.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Microelectronics, Physics, or Computer Engineering.
