THE ROLE: 

As Sr. Program Manager in AMD's AI GPU Software team, you will drive planning of various SW release streams in high performance GPU-accelerated compute and machine learning for the ROCm software stack and eco system components. You will learn about how the power of open-source software can be applied to solve real-world problems. You will interact with product management, customer enablement, software and hardware engineering teams, quality assurance and operations in a growing team

The successful candidate in this role will be a self-starter, upbeat, quick learner who is passionate about new technology in addition to being results-oriented and able to demonstrate ownership to get things done. They will be able to resolve ambiguity and adapt to changes in a dynamic environment. Drawing on their engineering background and validated experience in delivering software, the ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who can engage with key partners at all levels, from driving technical discussions to leading executive program reviews.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Release Planning & Execution 

  • Own end-to-end release management for ROCm software products, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.

  • Define and optimize release processes, including milestones, dependencies, risk mitigation, and rollback strategies.

  • Coordinate across Engineering, QA, DevOps,Product Management and Customer Enablement to deliver stable, scalable releases, meeting predefined criteria 

Technical Leadership & Problem-Solving

  • Drive resolution of technical challenges which may impact the release delivery for deployment, infrastructure scalability, and integration
  • Understand AI/ML pipelines, CI/CD workflows, and deployment methods 

  • Evaluate risks, trade-offs, and bottlenecks in release cycles, proposing data-driven solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the bridge between engineering teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of release status and blockers
  • Drive the resolution of release issues across functions and alignment with stakeholders 

Process Improvement and Metrics

  • Establish KPIs for release quality, velocity, and post-release performance
  • Implement automation and tooling to streamline release pipelines 
  • Conduct release retrospectives to drive continuous improvement

Crisis Management & Delivery Under Pressure

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for critical release issues, coordinating rapid response across teams
  • Maintain composure and decisiveness in high-pressure scenarios

 

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS: 

  • Experience in Software Program/Release Management and experience with AI/ML SW products
  • Family with Open Source Software delivery and community support 
  • Analytical, self-motivated, organized, detailed-oriented and results-oriented
  • Strong capability to improve existing process or establish new process for software releases 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work with team members and stakeholders with influence 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills up to executive level
  • Experience working in a high-pressure environment and competing priorities and tight turnaround times
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) such as Program Increments, Lean, Kanban
  • Experience using Microsoft Project, JIRA, Jenkins, Confluence, SharedPoint and Excel
  • Technical background/knowledge in AI SW frameworks is desired
  • Previous experience in DevOps with knowledge of CI/CD is preferred 
  • Experience in delivering software for new hardware products and GPUs is an advantage
  • Experience with Agile methodology 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering 
  • PMP or Agile certifications are highly desirable
