THE ROLE:
The successful candidate will assume responsibility for post-silicon activities related to performance characterization and optimization of AMD Datacentre products.

THE PERSON:
You have a passion for computer architecture, along with knowledge of HPC and ML workloads. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with engineers across different sites and timezones. You are a quick learner, self-starter, and able to drive multiple tasks to completion. You possess strong skills in Linux operating systems and Bash scripting, and have a solid understanding of computer architecture principles. Familiarity with collaboration tools and agile development practices is a plus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Become a key stakeholder in power and performance definition processes.
• Develop and execute performance characterization and optimization test plans for various usage scenarios (High performance compute, Machine learning frameworks, etc.).
• Analyze interactions between various power management features and optimize their configurations for performance.
• Exploit core architecture bottlenecks to test and mitigate worst-case scenarios.
• Support prototyping experiments for improving current and implementing new features that impact performance.
• Debug and troubleshoot system-level issues that may occur in test environments and platforms, including firmware and driver interactions.
• Proactively drive continuous improvement for post-silicon performance activities.
• Automate workload execution and performance data collection using scripting and Linux tools.
• Utilize performance profiling and analysis tools to identify bottlenecks and optimize system performance.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams using modern collaboration and project management tools.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Strong programming skills: Strong preference for Python, TensorFlow.
• Proficiency in Linux operating system and Bash scripting is essential.
• Experience with performance profiling tools such as perf, VTune, or similar.
• Desirable proficiency in C or C++, PHP, and Shell scripting.
• Strong understanding of computer organization and architecture.
• Strong understanding of HPC and ML workloads.
• Experience with hardware/software co-optimization and system-level debugging.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and collaboration tools (e.g., Git, Jira, Confluence).
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
