THE ROLE:
The AMD Strategic Silicon Solutions (S3) Business Unit is on the cutting edge of delivering the world's next custom solutions for gaming and other use cases. We've delivered blockbuster products like PlayStation, XBOX, and SteamDeck. And we're very excited to deliver what's next.
The Systems Engineering Program Management is a technical program manager role. This role provides leadership for multi-national, multi-discipline engineering teams that's responsible for design, platform power/perf, end-to-end validation and platform execution for next generation AMD semi-custom solutions. You will work across all of engineering and business to meet overall initiative and/or product objectives.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate has experience in the delivery of product programs from Concept through Customer Ship, utilizing large, matrixed teams to plan and execute system level products, and a passion for streamlined processes and data management. You are energized by working in a fast-paced technical organization across multiple sites, and with dynamic product requirements. You have a strong sense of ownership and quality. You want to make a difference in the industry and are passionate about collaborating with teams and our customers to find unique solutions to tough problems. The right candidate will have solid knowledge of technical program management, an outstanding track record of delivering sophisticated software/hardware programs, you will also drive a schedule for business planning towards growth that align to business strategy
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive efficient platform program planning & execution through active leadership, clear communication, and effective organization skills.
- Drive & track all aspects of platform program schedules to ensure all engineering and customer requirements are met from product definition to production.
- Engage with engineering leadership team to understand and document program scope and technical feasibility, establish integrated schedules, assess and manage program progress and risk, and drive resource and budget plans.
- Provide frequent & concise updates to Program and Executive teams on plans, status, and risk mitigation.
- Simultaneously keep the bigger business picture in mind, while focusing on program details to effectively drive teams.
- Proactively drive plans to mitigate delays, and follow-through with internal platform team.
- Collaborate with Platform teams for defining teams' dependencies & goals.
- Drives alignment between engineering teams, business unit, and customers to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and quality throughout the product lifecycle
- Develops and champion best-in-class processes to streamline the organization, meet new challenges and explore opportunities.
- Being comfortable working with senior executives is a hard requirement. You must address the needs and requirements called upon from AMD's Engineering, Product Management and Customer Engineering organizations
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Extended engineering and technical program management experience
- Experience leading the delivery of sophisticated hardware solutions.
- Validated self-starter, with demonstrative record of taking initiatives, turning minutes into action items, and getting results.
- Leadership skills and relevant experience driving engineering and multi-functional teams.
- Organization/Planning skills and relevant experience driving development schedules and risk
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with multiple people and teams, ability to communicate progress to team members on a regular basis
- Ability to influence buy-in on technical solutions in a multi-site, multi-cultural environment
- Experience facilitating problem resolution with other groups, both internal and external
- Experience working in a high-pressure environment and competing priorities and tight turnaround times
- Proactively involves others in planning, decision making and implementation efforts
- Comfortable making decisions or takes actions that move items to closure without divisiveness
- Ability to foster a communication friendly environment in which everyone can express conflicting inputs
- Experience with data management tools such as JIRA, JAMA, and general database knowledge (SQL, etc.)
- Experienced with data analysis and data visualization platforms such as PowerBI
- PMI PMP® Certification is preferred
- General knowledge PC, SOC, FW and SW architectures. Understanding of SOC development processes
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- BSEE (or equivalent), MSEE (or equivalent) preferred
- Formal Project Management education, PMP designation is a plus
