THE ROLE:

The Wafer Planning role is a critical planning role within AMD's Global Operations organization, accountable for owning and continuously improving AMD's wafer prioritization model and the end‑to‑end wafer planning cycle supporting S&OP needs and executive revenue modeling. This role orchestrates cross‑functional inputs (Business Unit Demand, AMD Inventory, product level wafer needs, wafer process and supplier capacity), drives constrained-supply scenario planning, and ensures repeatable governance, version control, and data integrity as the organization transitions from Excel-based processes toward scalable analytics and enterprise data platforms. The position requires semiconductor planning experience, strong executive storytelling, and the ability to lead complex, global alignment across Product Planning, BUs, Operations, Finance, and key foundry partners.

THE PERSON:

  • Strategic and analytical thinking; ability to translate complex allocation logic into executive-ready recommendations and “gap stories.”
  • Strong stakeholder management across Business Units, Finance, Operations, and technical teams; able to drive alignment on data definitions and process adherence
  • High rigor in model governance, change control, and error-proofing for business-critical planning needs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • AMD Wafer Prioritization Model and Process Ownership:
Own AMD's wafer prioritization model and process, delivering corporate S&OP wafer demand needs and CEO-level wafer/revenue modeling outputs with clear assumptions, constraints, and decision points.
  • Cycle Orchestration:
Drive the recurring wafer planning cycle by coordinating SCO planner inputs (e.g., inventory inputs, formula validation, wafer capability, cycle time) and model readiness for demand plan integration, ensuring on-time and accurate completion of all critical inputs.
  • Executive Communication  & Decision Support:
Frame gaps, tradeoffs, and recommended actions in executive-ready narratives (e.g., allocation vs. needs deltas, capacity risk) to accelerate decisions and protect revenue outcomes.
  • Constrained Supply Modeling & Scenario Planning:
Develop and maintain constrained views that translate demand into prioritized wafer plans under limited capacity scenarios, enabling rapid “plan-on-plan” comparisons and scenario-based decision support.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in semiconductor supply chain or related planning role
  • Proven success in capacity planning, process and program management capability
  • Strong analytical thinking with ability to influence operations and business unit partners.
  • Vision for enterprise level planning and reporting structures for foundry relations
  • Expertise in supply chain planning with focus on wafer usage across complex product portfolio
  • Strong financial and operational skillset to drive executive messaging
  • Advanced Excel modeling (wafer utilization workbooks) used as the planning backbone during current-state operations
  • Exposure to planning data flows into corporate systems (e.g., uploads and integration references) as part of planning execution
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills across global teams

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

BS in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
