Job SummaryWe are looking for a new UK Procurement Manager to be based in Kendal-Castle Mills.
This role is on a fixed-term basis expected to last around 12 months.
What a typical day looks like:
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings, utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
- Conduct research and monitor business trends and product availability to source the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
- Benchmark key suppliers to ensure the business is achieving Value for Money.
- Establish and measure suppliers' key performance metrics and ensure a comprehensive communication process is in place to address issues.
- Run tenders, evaluate bids, and make recommendations based on commercial and technical factors.
- Work closely with the commercial department to ensure contract terms are favourable to the company.
- Contribute to business plans and budget forecasting.
- Keep up to date with trends and innovations, regulation and new technology that can impact on the business.
- Assess and evaluate alternative methods of support for consumable materials.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies.
- Share best practice and supplier methods/routes with other Supply Chain departments.
- Appraise vendor manufacturing ability through on-site visits and measurements.
- Ensure all current processes meet agreed standards and targets. Support continuous improvement initiatives identifying areas of improvement.
- Create policies and procedures for risk management and mitigation.
- High level involvement for the UK roll-out of ERP.
- Manage and motivate the Procurement team.
Experience/qualification we are looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field is desirable
- About 7 years of related experience in the field of supply chain, including managerial experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints and also to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Demonstrates advanced functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills. Demonstrates advanced skills in functional/technical area.
- Has the ability to solve practical problems efficiently
- Exercises independent judgment within generally defined procedures and policies for selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Facilitates team in making group decision.
- Provides direction to teams according to established policies and objectives.
- Demonstrates skills in teaching/leading and/or mentoring.
