**Job Title: PRN Caregiver**
**Location:** Atlantic, Iowa
**Department:** Patient Care
**Employment Type:** PRN (As Needed)
**Reports To:** Director of Health & Wellness
**Job Summary:**
The PRN Caregiver provides compassionate and individualized care to patients or residents, assisting them with daily activities and ensuring their comfort and well-being. This position is critical in promoting a supportive and safe environment while respecting the dignity and independence of those in our care. The caregiver will support the full range of patient needs, including physical, emotional, and social support, and will work collaboratively with healthcare team members.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Personal Care Assistance:**
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Monitor and assist with mobility, transfers, and repositioning to prevent falls and promote comfort.
2. **Nutrition and Meal Support:**
- Prepare and serve meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Assist with feeding and hydration as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of dining and kitchen areas.
3. **Health Monitoring:**
- Observe and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to nursing or supervisory staff.
- Help with basic health care tasks as directed, including taking vital signs and managing medications.
4. **Emotional and Social Support:**
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, encouraging social interaction and engagement.
- Assist in recreational and therapeutic activities to enhance quality of life.
5. **Safety and Housekeeping:**
- Ensure a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for patients.
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain equipment and supplies.
6. **Documentation:**
- Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided, noting any significant changes in condition.
- Communicate effectively with team members and report care observations.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or similar preferred.
- Previous experience in caregiving, personal care, or related field is desirable.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate approach to care.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to lift and support patients as needed, including the ability to stand, walk, and bend frequently.
- Capable of performing tasks that require physical strength and stamina.
