
Description
The Terminal Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transfer of bulk liquid and dry products, including hazardous materials, between railcars and trucks. This role involves operating and maintaining equipment such as a loader, forklift, railcar moving equipment, and skid steer to load and unload products. The Terminal Operator ensures compliance with safety regulations and company procedures while working closely within teams to coordinate shipments, manage inventory, and resolve any operational challenges. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment are key to success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Unload various materials consisting of a variety of bulk liquid and dry products daily
- Understand and follow operating procedures and policies
- Operate railcar loading systems and equipment
- Operate railcar movers to safely and effectively move tank and grain cars in the rail yard
- Cross-train on all operations at the facility
- Communicate effectively and ask questions
- Complete necessary documentation
- Actively participate in safety training as it applies to work tasks
- Adhere to company policies and procedures and enforce them with other employees, contractors, and visitors
- Assist with general duties within the facility (general maintenance, yard upkeep)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb up and down railcars/ladders safely, walk up and down steps, and work at heights
- Willing to work outside in inclement weather
- Willing to work with liquid hazardous and dry bulk materials
- Ability to carry at least fifty (50) pounds
- Able to walk a minimum of one (1) to two (2) miles per shift
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Qualifications
- Read, write, and understand English
- Basic math skills
- Computer skills (data entry)
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule, overtime, holidays, nights and weekends as required
- Willing to be on call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities
