JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: Provides timely inventory, restock and distribution of medical/surgical supplies and equipment to patient care areas. Job is performed appropriate to the needs of the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

JOB FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

1. Inventories, restocks, and organizes PAR level supply carts accurately for each patient care area.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
-Demonstrates basic understanding of inventory management in Central Supply.
-Demonstrates computer skills necessary to access and utilize multiple computer programs used in Central Supply.
-Is able to utilize a par count sheet to determine supply replenishment on nursing units that do
not utilize Par Excellence System for restock.
-Demonstrates ability to add and subtract manually to determine restock level needed.
-Demonstrates ability to create appropriate orders in Par Excellence for restock of Par Ex unit
and accurately pick the supplies for restock.
-Is able to utilize Issue Processing function in Paragon Materials Management to print pick tickets
and decrement inventory.
- Insures necessary adjustments to pick tickets to balance receipt in Par Ex to corresponding issue in Paragon.
-Understands the difference between full, selective, and critical orders in Par Excellence for
restock of nursing units and when to utilize each one.
-Demonstrates ability to make sure orders are closing out properly in Par Excellence and notifiess supervisor of any issues with timely closing of these orders.
-Demonstrates ability to read and interpret bin locations and restock shelves in Central Supply.
-

2. Assures that patient supplies and equipment ordered on a “stat” basis are delivered to patient care areas in a timely and efficient manner.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
• Demonstrates ability to pull “stat” orders for nursing units and document the issue on the appropriate log sheet, and deliver through the pneumatic tube system.
• Demonstrates ability to take phone orders, record stock issues on log sheet, and deliver to the department physically.

3. Performs all other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1 year of inventory experience is preferred.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Knowledge of inventory control, computerized inventory procedures and medical/surgical supplies preferred.

SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: patient demographics, location, billing and charges.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Incident reporting, sharps and linen, hand washing, environment of care, and patient identification.
