The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an exceptional candidate for a full-time faculty position for a board certified surgical intensivist/acute care surgeon in the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at the academic rank of Assistant Professor or higher. The accepted candidate will join a busy team of acute care surgeons at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, which is situated in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest.

The 150 members of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, ranked 13th by the U.S. News & World Report for departments of surgery, practice at iconic institutions within the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest medical center, including Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, Ben Taub Hospital, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, and the Texas Children's Hospital. The Department trains over 120 residents and fellows annually, including trainees in the only NRMP-listed residency track in global surgery. Our department Office of Surgical Research comprised of over 70 research specialists manage over 80 grants and 130 active clinical studies supported by over $10 million in extramural funding annually.

Applicant should possess superb clinical skills with exceptional clinical expertise in acute care surgery and surgical critical care, and have an interest in helping to develop our educational and innovative research programs to the highest national benchmarks, including the training of four ACGME approved surgical critical care residents. The candidate will join a highly skilled team of clinicians and researchers focused on multidisciplinary surgical care.

Successful candidate must be board certified or board eligible and qualify for medical licensure in the state of Texas.
