Position Summary  

Public Safety department is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented individual who is currently enrolled as a Bellevue College student. This role is ideal for someone who is very organized and comfortable with day-to-day tasks such as data entry, Excel spreadsheets, filing and organizing, scanning, keeping inventory up-to-date. Testing Lock Shop equipment throughout the College campus will be required as part of the inventory and organizational assignments.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Pay rate: $16.75/hour - $21.98/hour

The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $18/hour based on Bellevue College hourly salary schedule.

The successful candidate is expected to work 12 - 19 hours per week, hours flexible with student schedules. 

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits. Student employees are entitled to begin accruing paid sick leave from the start of their employment.

About the Department  

The Bellevue College (BC) Public Safety Department's well-trained and courteous staff provides personal safety, security, crime prevention, preliminary investigations, and other services to the campus community, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Public Safety staff provide non-violent crisis intervention during incidents or confrontational situations. All Public Safety staff are trained in basic CPR and emergency response for major incidents (e.g., Weather Conditions, Earthquake, Medical Emergency, Power Failure, Fire, Evacuation Procedures, Acts of Violence, Hazardous Substances, Bomb Threats, Weapons Use or Threats). The BC Public Safety Department acts as the first responder for all criminal incidents, provides general patrol of campus facilities and property, investigates collisions, manages traffic safety and parking, coordinates emergency preparedness planning, and provides crime prevention programs. The department responds to all reports of fire and/or medical aid, working in support of the Bellevue Fire Department.

Essential Functions  
  • Inventory and organization of keys and equipment in the Lock Shop. 
  • Answering phone calls and emails.
  • Communicating with staff via two-way radio.
  • Testing keys at campus' buildings by moving on daily basis throughout the campus territory.
  • Data entry from paper forms into Lock Shop software.
  • Digitizing records which includes but limited to scanning, entering data and filing updated records.
  • Other clerical/administrative support.

 

Minimum Qualifications  
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Currently attending Bellevue College.
  • Six months of administrative or clerical work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and uphold confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain integrity and honesty.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to an environment that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion, and civility.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide customer service to students, staff and faculty of various  ages and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to present and communicate in a positive, professional and respectful manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction, receive feedback, adjust, and follow the department chain of command.
