Position Summary
The Assistant Creative Services Manager (or Senior Graphic Designer) conceptualizes and creates visual design solutions that support Bellevue College's brand, marketing communication, and recruitment goals. Utilizing their expertise and knowledge of current marketing and communication design best practices, the Senior Graphic Designer (or Assistant Creative Services Manager) offers strategic design guidance to leadership and campus stakeholders to help inform business decisions and shape the overall design direction of Bellevue College. This position works closely with campus stakeholders and uses design software and other technology to execute designs and coordinate production for traditional and digital projects and ensures that work aligns with Bellevue College standards.
The position works under the general supervision of the Creative Services Manager and carries out work assignments in accordance with the priorities and objectives the supervisor has established.
Pay, Benefits & Work SchedulePosition Salary Range: $52,848/year - $71,100/year
The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This is a Classified, overtime eligible position and represented by the Washington Public Employee Association of Higher Education (WPEA-HE).

About the DepartmentThe Institutional Advancement (IA) Division of Bellevue College works across the full academic enterprise to solidify a multi-faceted culture of brand awareness, philanthropy, and internal and external engagement. IA supports the College's mission by increasing awareness of, advocacy for, engagement in, and giving to Bellevue College. As part of the IA division, the Marketing & Communications department is responsible for stewarding the BC brand and driving the college's marketing strategy to increase awareness, support enrollment, and drive community engagement.
Essential FunctionsDevelop graphic design content within the Bellevue College brand architecture
- Apply on-brand, inclusive, impactful, audience-centric, and creative design ideation.
- Produce and package complex, computer-generated multi-page art using specialized graphic design software for page layout, illustration, and photo manipulation.
- Lead and deliver projects that support and evolve the goals and strategies of the College, Institutional Advancement, and the Marketing and Communication Department.
- Design digital display ads for various sizes for multiple distribution channels.
- Design printed collateral including brochures, fliers, and posters.
- Adopt an ongoing drive to be informed and put into practice accessible visual solutions.
- Support the College¿s mission to be inclusive in communications.
- Keep current with evolving communication best practices.
- Maintain and enhance data-tracking databases and generate reports.
Collaborate, educate, and manage internal clients and stakeholders to achieve effective creative design solutions that best represent the College
- Consult with managers and staff on all aspects of graphic design to determine the scope of graphic projects, consider audience and the development of departmental goals and objectives; programs and events involving aggressive marketing, high visibility, large distribution, and budget factors.
- Advise others regarding the practical applications of graphics design as a tool of visual communication.
- Develop, train, and explain to department staff the effective use of graphic design and production costs; offer ideas, suggestions and information on techniques, content, and format.
- Conceive, design, and produce organization-wide informational materials taking into account intended use, audience, budget and the project's and department's goals and objectives.
- Offer strategic design to leadership and campus stakeholders to help inform business decisions and shape the overall design direction of Bellevue College.
Provide video editing for advertising and marketing needs to fit a variety of channels
- Design and produce animated elements for multiple video projects.
- Create and edit video segments for distribution in multiple streaming channels.
- Develop graphic design content for motion graphics and animation in a variety of venues including online video, digital signage, and live broadcast productions.
Manage the work of contract photographers and videographers
- Define the role or project requirements in consultation with the Director of Marketing and Communications. Set clear and measurable expectations.
- Coordinate comprehensive contracts for processing through BC Contracts Department.
- Onboard contractors to BC brand and style guide.
- Establish communication protocols and communicate regularly with photographers and videographers.
- Monitor contractor performance. Resolve low level performance concerns, escalating to Director of Marketing and Communications when appropriate.
Guide and continue ongoing maintenance of the Digital Asset Management System
- Curate photo and video assets.
- Assign keywords and tag photos.
- Upload assets to Digital Asset Management System.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in visual communications, graphic design or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience can be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis
- Three (3) or more years of visual design experience
- Proficiency in visual design software including Adobe Creative Suite (lnDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, AfterEffects, Audition) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with print design, pre-press production, and scheduling processes
- Experience with digital design for various online/screen applications, including web, mobile, and streaming applications
- Visual design proficiency with attention to best practices, typography standards, as well as accuracy, detail and thoroughness
- Experience working in a collaborative environment with diverse employees, and customer/client groups
- Effective customer service, project management, and prioritization skills
- Experience analyzing process or workflows for improvement
- Two (2) years of professional experience in digital media arts (multimedia) including photography, videography, video editing and animation
- One (1) year of experience within higher education
- Working knowledge of SmartSheet project software, Project Management Professional certification
- Experience in web design, including UX design and working knowledge of HTML
- Experience or knowledge of PC and Mac based computers in order to effectively integrate graphic cross-platform with campus
