Job Description:

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Head Coach, Softball position. The Head Coach, Softball is responsible for coaching, recruiting and administrative duties. The incumbent also maintains positive relations with alumni and friends' groups.

All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League and ECAC rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions are required to maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).

Background Check – Criminal, Education, MVR

All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and education verification satisfactory to Brown.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.

  • Minimum of five years coaching and recruiting experience required, preferably at the collegiate level; some prior head coaching experience preferred.

  • Competitive Softball experience at the collegiate level, preferred.

  • effectively teach those skills.

  • Ability to recruit within NCAA and Ivy League rules.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop nationally competitive athletes.

  • Demonstrated academic success of previously coached student-athletes.

  • Ability to manage a staff.

  • Exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive community and the ability to influence student-athletes to do the same.

  • Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community.

  • Commitment to the student-athlete and the ability to coach, effectively communicate and motivate.

  • Strong organizational; interpersonal; communication; budgeting and computer skills needed.

  • The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background, education and DMV checks satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment
