The Mindfulness for Health Equity Lab at Brown University (PI: Shufang Sun) is seeking a full-time project manager. The lab manager will support a variety of projects funded by NIH as well as pilot projects, support PI in grant writing and development of new projects, and manage a diverse team of staff and student research assistants. The project manager will manage/direct the day-to-day operations of research studies including managing communications, data, and overseeing workflow. Organization skills, attention to detail, excellence in administrative tasks including IRB and other study documents, ability to effectively execute research in accordance to research protocol, and organize team members and facilitate a healthy lab culture are essential. We are looking for a team member who can effectively interact with a variety of participant populations and internal and external partners at a high level of integrity and oral and written communication skills. The lab manger will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks: tracking expenses, ordering equipment or materials, leading lab meetings, preparing study progress reports, maintain and update lab website, and meetings with staff and student RAs weekly about progress, goal-setting, and problem-solving. The lab manager will set up data tracking systems, manage datasets involved in various projects, and facilitate data cleaning and preliminary analysis. This position requires a minimum of 3 days/week in person.

Additional information: Dr. Shufang Sun's Mindfulness for Health Equity Lab is located in the Mindfulness Center at Brown University School of Public Health in Providence, RI. Our lab works at the interface of mental health, public health, and disease prevention and management via mindfulness and internet/mobile health approaches. Our research primarily utilizes the following methodologies: (a) mixed methods research to develop community-centered intervention programs using tools such as mindfulness, socio-emotional learning, and internet/mobile delivery with communities affected by stress, trauma, and marginalization linked to adverse health and mental health outcomes, (b) conducting clinical trials to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of these interventions, and (c) evidence synthesis via systematic reviews and meta-analysis. We have studies both in the U.S. and with global partners.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree and 5-7  years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, a Master's in Public Health, or Master's degree with concurrent research experience.

  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Report writing experience required.
  • Experience working in a clinical, laboratory and/or medical site required.
  • Proficiency with Excel required. 
  • Experience with Qualtrics required.
  • Strong computational skills required.
  • Experience and familiarity with statistical programs desired (SPSS, R, SAS)
  • Experience with public data repository practices such as Github desired.
  • Knowledge of research methodology and reporting; experience and familiarity with grant funding and IRB   procedures necessary; knowledge of issues related to addictions and treatment evaluation.
  • Experience with supervision of diverse professional staff required, including staff development and motivation.
  • Excellent verbal presentation skills, interpersonal skills, and written communication skills required.
  • Enthusiastic and professional attitude.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to diverse communities and global partners.
  • Willingness to travel locally, domestically, and internationally as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.

Job Competencies

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 7/1/2025, which may be extended based upon available funding.

This is a hybrid eligible position.
