Job Description:

The Senior Application Administrator oversees the administration of the Admission and Financial Aid applications used by the Warren Alpert Medical School and leads application administration, testing processes, report management, end user application support and end user application training.  The position delivers technical support for all aspects of the operational needs of the Admission and Financial Aid department and represents the Medical School in key IT working groups, committees and is the data liaison with institutional research. The position is responsible for the documentation and training of all staff and roles in support of the admission process, including staff, interviewers, reviewers, etc.  The position takes a lead role in the reporting needs for the Medical School administrative areas of Admission and Financial Aid, and Records and Registration.  This will require technical and functional knowledge of Banner, the system of record, and technical knowledge of Cognos and the reporting packages built against the Banner Operational Data Store (ODS). This position serves as the Departmental Identity Administrator for the Medical School.

This position will report to the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and will work closely with the Director of Departmental Systems in the Office of Information Technology and other OIT staff, partnering on all technology acquisitions and implementations.  This position will be available as a resource to medical school staff for training on IT programs and databases used within the Medical School.
 

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • 3+ years of experience with enterprise-level business application support or administration.

  •  The following experience is preferred:

    • Administration of Medical School Admission applications

    • Administration of Medical School Financial Aid applications

    • Experience in an Enterprise setting for administering software applications

    • Familiarity with Cognos or an alternative reporting solution that utilizes data packages, ETL, and SQL based reporting

    • Familiarity with writing SQL Queries and joining tables in support of reporting

    • Experience with software testing as it relates to new software implementation or software upgrades

  • Experience with writing documentation in support of operational processing

  • Experience with writing documentation in support of cross training others

  • And/or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Competencies

  • Strong application support/administration abilities to troubleshoot, support, and maintain critical application suites/software components supporting a 24x7 operation.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and project planning skills

  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL Queries

  • Troubleshooting skills for problem resolution

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking

  • Knowledge of IT change management processes

  • Excellent customer service skills; strong commitment to customer service

  • Strong computing, analytical, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a group and as a member of a project team

  • Excellent coordination, collaboration, writing, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities

  • Ability to work through problems and find solutions

  • Experience with Google Suite

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office applications

  • Higher education experience preferred

  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
