Summary
Performs all functions of landscaping and landscape maintenance. Has basic knowledge of power equipment used in the landscape environment. Performs basic skills in a safe manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Participates with Landscape Laborer in preparing and grading terrain, applying fertilizers, seeding and sodding lawns, and transplanting shrubs and plants.
- Plans lawns, and plants and cultivates them.
- Plants new and repairs established lawns, using seed mixtures and fertilizers recommended for particular soil type and lawn location.
- Locates and plants shrubs, trees, and flowers recommended for particular landscape effect.
- Use all hand tools in a safe manner.
- Perform basic service checks on all machinery daily.
- Edge, trim, and mow lawns.
- Sprays trees and shrubs, and applies supplemental liquid and dry nutrients to lawn and trees.
- Digs trenches and installs drain tiles.
- Complete tasks related to landscape maintenance (weeding, and clean ups etc.)
- Operates utility vehicles to perform job duties.
- Operates ride-on equipment.
- Maintains flexibility while performing daily tasks.
- Complies with all safety standards.
- Cleans grounds.
- In case of inclement weather, additional job duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Must have at least 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Age Requirement
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
