Electrical Engineer I Overview
The Electrical Engineer I - Plant performs electrical engineering services as needed for all activities associated with plant operations and maintenance including calculations, analysis, design, and maintenance engineering support of low complexity. Supports maintenance programs, condition monitoring, investigation and analysis to identify and recommend solutions and approaches for electrical issues as well as troubleshooting equipment. The incumbent supports small and medium sized projects, and maintenance outages. Receives frequent technical guidance from higher level engineers.


Electrical Engineer II Overview
The Electrical Engineer II - Plant performs electrical engineering services as needed for all activities associated with plant operations and maintenance including calculations, analysis, design, and maintenance engineering support of low complexity. Supports electrical maintenance programs, condition monitoring, investigation and analysis to identify and recommend solutions and approaches for electrical engineering issues as well as troubleshooting equipment. The incumbent supports small and medium sized projects, and maintenance outages. Receives frequent technical guidance from higher level engineers.

 

Electrical Engineer III Overview
The Electrical Engineer III - Plant performs electrical engineering services as needed for all activities associated with plant operations and maintenance including calculations, analysis, design, and maintenance engineering support of low complexity. Supports electrical maintenance programs, condition monitoring, investigation and analysis to identify and recommend solutions and approaches for electrical engineering issues as well as troubleshooting equipment. Independently drafts technical sections of feasibility studies. Prepares plans and specs for procurement. Supports small to large sized projects and maintenance activities.


Electrical Engineer Senior I Overview
The Electrical Engineer Sr I - Plant performs electrical engineering services as needed for all activities associated with plant operations and maintenance including calculations, analysis, design, and maintenance engineering support of moderate complexity. Supports electrical maintenance programs, condition monitoring, investigation, and analysis to identify and recommend solutions and approaches for electrical engineering issues as well as troubleshooting equipment. Prepares technical plans and specs, and maintenance procedures of moderate complexity. Leads interdisciplinary teams to solve problems.


Electrical Engineer Senior II Overview
The Electrical Engineer Sr. II - Plant performs electrical engineering services as needed for activities associated with plant operations and maintenance including calculations, analysis, design, and maintenance engineering support of high complexity. Supports electrical maintenance programs, condition monitoring, investigation and analysis to identify and recommend solutions and approaches for electrical engineering issues as well as troubleshooting equipment. Prepares technically complex plans, specs, and procedures for plant upgrades and testing. Leads multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems.

Electrical Engineer I Responsibilities

  • Field Support: Assist or direct electrical maintenance crews in the trouble shooting of electrical problems. Assist with safety related projects that require design, concept, and installation. Prepare procedures for and support commissioning for units and electrical equipment. Receives frequent guidance from higher level engineers.
  • Engineering Design: Perform basic electrical engineering design, analysis, and calculations as assigned for electrical systems and equipment associated with the hydroelectric projects. Markup schematic and wiring diagrams. Propose design options and alternatives. Peer review work of other entry level engineers.
  • Plans & Specifications: Research and provide input for electrical systems, equipment and other related materials/services for system changes and purchase.
  • Analyze machine condition monitoring data and failure information to determine if equipment needs replacement or repair. Propose engineering solutions for problems, deficiencies or opportunities identified within the projects.
  • Training: Identify and attend training to maintain and learn new skills.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

Electrical Engineer II Responsibilities

  • Engineering Design: Perform fundamental electrical engineering design, analysis, and calculations, as assigned for electrical systems and equipment associated with the hydroelectric projects. Mark up schematic and wiring diagrams. Propose design options and alternatives. Peer review work of same or lower-level engineers. Occasionally refers to training and textbooks.
  • Field Support: Assist or direct electrical maintenance crews in the trouble shooting of electrical problems when needed. Assist with safety related projects that require design, concept, and installation. Prepare procedures for and support commissioning for units and electrical equipment. Receives frequent technical guidance from higher level engineers.

Electrical Engineer III Responsibilities

  • Engineering Design: Perform electrical engineering design, analysis, and calculations of medium complexity, as assigned for electrical systems and equipment associated with the hydroelectric projects. Create and mark up schematic and wiring diagrams. Provide the design steps and correct sequencing of the technical activities to maintenance staff and plant management. Draft technical sections of feasibility studies. Peer review work of same or lower-level engineers. Receives occasional technical guidance from higher level engineers.
  • Field Support: Assist or direct electrical maintenance crews in the trouble shooting of electrical problems when needed. Assist with safety related projects that require design, concept, and installation. Prepare procedures for and support commissioning for units and electrical equipment. Receives frequent technical guidance from higher level engineers.

Investigate alternatives for troubleshooting and solution design for obscure or indeterminate problems. Prepare and mark up schematic, one-line, and wiring diagrams. Perform protective relay setting calculation and oversee testing. Evaluate and propose conventional and sometimes innovative approaches to problems. Provide structure and work sequence to lower-level engineers to guide technical activities. Receives only general objective guidance from higher level engineers and management. Qualifications

Electrical Engineer I, II, III  Education
Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S., B.A.) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Engineering of Technology, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • EI (Engineering Intern) or EIT (Engineer in Training) achieved by passing the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam preferred.

Electrical Engineer Senior I Education
Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S., B.A.) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

Electrical Engineer Senior II Education
Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S., B.A.) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred

Electrical Engineer I  Experience

  • Candidates with work experience in hydro generation, with an electric utility or similar applications are preferred.

Electrical Engineer II Experience

  • 2+ years Experience performing electrical engineering of increasing complexity in power generation or similar industrial work. required. and
  • Experience must include examples of successful application of basic engineering in the form of reports, specifications and drawings; participation in data collection and field research or inspections. required.

Electrical Engineer III Experience
