TEAM LEADER BUSINESS BANKING REL MGMT 400 Park Avenue Branch OR 6th Avenue Branch - New York, NY WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? Develops and manages a group of Business Banking Relationship Managers (BBRM's) for assigned region. Plans and directs the activities of BBRM's towards attainment of regional goals, including sales, client service and proper credit quality and risk management. Sets individual goals and assists BBRM's in development of their sales plans. Works closely with BBRM's to insure established goals and objectives are met. Reviews and approves transactions within delegated authority for both the BBRM's and when necessary may assist the region's branches. Manages overall business banking production, profitability, and credit risk for the region. Along with RBM's, responsible for the region meeting business banking performance objectives including meeting loan, deposit, and fee income goals. May make joint calls with the BBRM's on more complex relationships and to support their on-going skill development. Insures the BBRM's are providing the CNB exemplary level of service, identifying and promoting solutions to customer needs, and maintaining an active calling program. What you will do

  • Shares responsibility with the Business Banking Manager and RBM, for the hiring and retention of BBRMs for their assigned region. Sets objectives, review and approves individual sales plans, and monitor results to conform to sales and service objectives. Manages the sales process including new client acquisition, referrals, cross sell, and retention efforts. Participates in joint calling activity with BBRM's and when appropriate with other sales colleagues. Provides coaching as necessary and identifies and develops BBRM talent pipeline for the region.
  • Supports other CNB departments and colleagues as needed. Provides project management support to the Director of Business Banking as needed. Promotes the bank's business banking brand awareness within designated market. May assist RBM's on leadership activities in support of the business banking segment. Participates in internal and external community activities as a representative of CNB, promoting and attracting new colleagues and clients for the bank.
  • Works with each BBRM in preparing their calling and relationship plan which would include identification of business opportunities from both existing clients and prospects. Sets individual objectives including loan, deposit, and fee income growth, and portfolio contribution, etc. Provides on-going coaching, counseling, and performance reviews.
  • Makes joint calls with BBRM's on more complex relationships or transactions and to help further develop the BBRM's skill set. Reviews structure options with the BBRM's to maximize opportunities. May recommend bringing in product specialists, as necessary, to help problem solve or structure transactions.
  • Provides support, as necessary in negotiating complex transactions, ensures conformance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements. Ensures sound credit and risk judgment is exercised.
  • Supports the development of branch colleagues to help them be successful in their assigned role and prepare them for future career advancement.
  • Represents the Bank by actively participating in outside civic and community affairs, business and industry-related organizations, and other professional activities as appropriate.
  • Interfaces with other Bank departments including the branches within their assigned area as necessary. Defines responsibilities and coordinates objectives for all product areas in a relationship or transaction. Resolves all client needs and any internal issues.
  • Monitors and analyzes region's business banking results and account activities. Reviews portfolio and client profitability. Makes recommendations regarding accounts to be further developed or eliminated. Prepares reports for management.
  • Monitors region's business banking portfolio for quality, risk and adherence to policy. Works with the appropriate staff departments to resolve issues.
  • Maintains awareness of competitive products, practices, rates and changes in market conditions.
  • Analyzes problem credits and provides BBRM with recommendations or solutions to minimize loss exposure.
  • Supports Director of Business Banking on projects designed to further enhance the division's performance in this segment.
  • Provides industry practice expertise for the region and the division.
  • **For FINRA licensed colleagues:** Review asset management and CNS Brokerage statements with clients. Partner with Financial Advisors (FAs) and/or the City National Securities (CNS) Investment Officers (IOs) to communicate with clients about current conditions in the financial markets, investment alternatives, asset allocation and results, review asset management and brokerage account statements. Discuss changes to strategies with FA and or CNS IO.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • A minimum of 10 years of commercial lending/relationship manager experience required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing commercial relationship managers required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of credit experience required.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated strong leadership, management, sales, and marketing capabilities.
  • Good understanding of all products and services applicable to target client segment.
  • Good understanding of all the bank's products and service and the overall sales process with a focus on client segmentation and performance measurement
  • Excellent knowledge of commercial credit policies and procedures, and bank operations policies and procedures.
  • Strong credit analysis and accounting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop and retain strong sales colleagues and effectively manage results through a team of colleagues.
  • Has the ability to work autonomously in making sound business decisions and exercises appropriate level of authority commensurate with experience and responsibility.
  • Ability to build positive relationships both within the Personal & Business Banking Division and throughout the bank and capable of establishing professional expertise through integrity, dedication, and strategic counsel.
  • Must be capable of inspiring confidence and respect in staff and motivate colleagues to achieve individual, division and company goals.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; must be able to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner
Compensation Starting base salary: $111,408 - $189,738 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
