GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Chief Design and Construction Engineer performs responsible professional design and administrative work to further the implementation of pedestrian and bicyclist accommodations, Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Compliance Standards, and Complete Streets Concepts. Work involves overseeing the development of plans and specifications for capital improvement projects and championing for the implementation of the East Baton Rouge Parish Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan. Work also involves participating with senior leadership to advance the City's Complete Streets Policy by collaborating with stakeholders such as the Complete Streets Citizens' Advisory Committee, Baton Rouge Recreation Commission (BREC), Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX), and others.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering and eight years of experience in professional engineering, including two years of project management or supervisory experience.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture and six years of post-license experience in the practice of professional landscape architecture, including two years of project management or supervisory experience. Bachelor's degree in architecture, and six years of post-license experience in the practice of professional architecture, including two years of project management or supervisory experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
Possession of a license to practice professional engineering as issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board, a license to practice landscape architecture as issued by the Louisiana Horticulture Commission, or a license to practice professional architecture as issued by the Louisiana State Board of Architectural Examiners (as related to the qualifying degree). Position(s) of this classification may require a valid Louisiana driver's license. If license is required, must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
