GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the EMS Shift Supervisor and the EMS Deputy Shift Supervisor, performs responsible technical and first line supervisory work in assisting in the supervision and training of the EMS field personnel assigned to an EMS Unit. Employees of this class also serve as paramedic when needed. Performs other work as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, supplemented by completion of an approved EMT Paramedic course, and one year of experience in the supervision of emergency medical work.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Registration as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, and certification by Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
