Fort Edmonton Park is seeking a dynamic Animation Manager to lead our vibrant programs and services. In this pivotal role, you will report to the Director of Fort Edmonton Park within the Community Recreation and Culture Branch, overseeing a significant portfolio that includes a substantial budget and a dedicated team of permanent and non-permanent (seasonal) employees.
You will be instrumental in ensuring all programs and services are managed efficiently, cost-effectively, and align with our vision, mission, and performance targets. This role requires close collaboration with communications partners to amplify awareness of our diverse offerings and engage with a wide array of internal and external partners. A key focus will be to champion inclusion in all animation plans, thoughtfully integrating interpretive narratives in partnership with various groups, including Indigenous partners. What will you do?
- Supervise and direct Program Managers and Coordinators, including performance evaluations
- Engage staff through leadership, coaching, mentorship, counseling, and training to build high-performing teams
- Assist staff in problem-solving for program and service development to achieve strategic goals
- Determine staffing requirements, conduct recruitment, and make hiring and promotion decisions
- Provide guidance in hiring and retaining staff and volunteers, including reviewing and realigning duties to build capacity
- Represent management during employee grievance hearings when necessary
- Foster a culture of learning, innovation, creativity, health, wellness, safety, and leadership development
- Provide clear direction and vision for program and animation development and facility operations
- Oversee and be accountable for all public programming, including admissions, school programs, Indigenous programs, and ticketed events
- Establish and champion performance indicators and targets for operational excellence and optimizing program and facility performance
- Manage unit financials to respond to variances and meet approved budgets for programs, services, and facility operations
- Ensure a coordinated approach to service delivery by various business units and maintain communication strategies to improve service
