Description

Work at this level involves the hands-on delivery and maintenance of IT applications, and services. Work requires a general working knowledge of POSSE and a variety of technology stacks, areas, and domains, including knowledge of the integration within a single technology. The AIS I staff in this position may be designated to a specific technology, and are focused on the delivery of the technology. This position provides operational support, including troubleshooting and proactive monitoring of existing applications. Staff in this position have limited involvement in planning and analysis activities; however, may assist in systems analysis activities and participate in pieces of solution delivery as delegated by senior levels or project managers.

The assignments for the staff in this position are generally more support related and are assigned and monitored by senior levels or project manager. The staff in this position adheres to work plans and analyze, develop and evaluate systems and technologies, including operational performance requirements, database standards, documentation and support activities. There is limited involvement in long-range planning.

The staff in this position is capable of operating independently within a single technology stack under moderate supervision. The AIS I staff may provide mentorship and cross training to other staff.

  • Perform solution delivery and operational maintenance for assignments with established procedures or support of a vendor or senior resources expertise, as well as supporting projects as part of the team
  • Actively maintain knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms
  • Carry out agreed operational procedures, including application configuration, installation and maintenance; uses existing tools to collect and report on load and performance statistics to track and identify performance issues
  • Complete research and feasibility studies
  • Identify and resolve issues with applications following agreed procedures; use application management software and tools to collect performance statistics
  • Investigate problems in systems, processes and services; assist with the implementation of remedies and preventative measures
  • Monitor support tickets and perform ticket triage, responding to application or infrastructure-related issues, unusual or other situations that impact system performance; perform diagnostics and other problem-solving activities and implement remedial procedures as required
  • Review requirements and specifications, and define test conditions
  • Conduct system software maintenance tasks
  • Analyze, develop and maintain technology systems, including operational performance requirements, database, standards and documentation
  • Provide support on the use of existing methods and tools
  • Apply tools, techniques and processes to administer, track, log, report on and correct configuration items, components and changes
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of, and contribute to, reporting for issues escalated to the vendor for support
  • Develop a training plan in concurrence with the Team Lead and Manager that ensures the ability to develop and support applications throughout all lifecycle stages
