The Information Technology (IT) Mission Critical Apps Section of the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) requires an Applications and Infrastructure Analyst II who is self-motivated and organized with exceptional technical, application development, testing and interpersonal skills. This position will analyze business requirements, specifications and meet with Subject Matter Expers (SME) with a focus on creating a suite of automated tests for both 3rd party and custom developed applications – for a portfolio of mission-critical EPS applications. This position is part of a team that provides application support for business users and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assist with the automation of manual testing processes across custom-built and vendor-supported applications, leveraging DevOps methodologies and testing best practices to enhance efficiency, reliability and integrate with CI/CD pipelines
- Design, develop, execute, document and report on robust automated test suites using Tricentis Tosca.
- Assist with integrating DevOps to integrate test automation into build and release pipelines.
- Document test environments and configure necessary infrastructure for script execution.
- Interact with stakeholders to clarify acceptance criteria and test coverage requirements.
- Work closely with BAs, developers, and SMEs to translate business requirements or specifications into automated testing scenarios.
- Additional activities could include (a) developing new solutions and (b) maintaining and supporting existing solutions.
- Support EPS's Records Management Systems (RMS) and the associated systems. The Records Management System integrates with various levels of IT including networking and infrastructure.
- Work with the business Analysts to analyze the needs of the business and propose technical solutions to satisfy those requirements. Analysis involves engaging clients to define the detailed requirement by going through use cases and screen mockups. Once the requirements have materialized, analysis is done to identify possible solutions based on the cost, feasibility and ease of use.
- Assist with Operational and Strategic Planning, including assisting with the development and maintenance of technology roadmaps.
- Provide guidelines to their peers from time to time. The Analyst creates technical documentation and organizes and holds knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Work collaboratively with various members of the IT Branch to ensure that all application issues are addressed in a timely manner to minimize disruption to the provision of IT services.
