As a Crew Leader, Cemetery Operations supporting the interment team, you will showcase your leadership and team development skills through a cohesive and integrated process.

What you will do:

  • Provide hands-on field level supervision to staff performing a wide variety of tasks which include interments, disinterments, monument installations, restoration landscaping/beautification, horticulture, and turf maintenance
  • Assist Team Leader in the development and execution of work plans and training programs
  • Prioritize and coordinate the maintenance and operations of various cemetery parkland locations
  • Develop collaborative teams through coaching, training, and staff development
  • Build effective working relationships while managing staff performance and schedule adherence
  • Work with several internal and external stakeholders which include corporate/department staff, funeral directors, funeral homes, and monument dealers
  • Promote a safe working environment for all staff, following Occupational Health and Safety/Environmental standards
  • Have working knowledge and clearly communicate City of Edmonton bylaws, policies, health and safety regulations, and government legislation
  • Read surveyed grades and design blueprints, ensuring accurate locations of construction points Provide quality customer service to cemetery patrons and grieving families, and address service delivery concerns in coordination with the cemetery sales office
  • Understand various cultural/religious group traditions and burial practices
  • Attend departmental meetings as required
  • Conduct regular team meetings including safety talks/inspections
  • Perform Team Leader responsibilities when required
