Reporting to the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief, Administration will provide leadership and guidance. This role will implement and promote Edmonton Fire Rescue's strategic plan, fostering a culture of innovation, engagement, collaboration and respect. The Deputy Fire Chief is a leader that is essential to building relationships and believes that diversity of ideas, experiences and approaches is key to building the safest service for everyone. The Deputy Fire Chief Administration will lead the work relating to Fire Rescue Facilities; Fire Rescue Fleet and Equipment; Logistical Planning (PPE, SCBA and Equipment); Physical and Mental Wellness Programs; Occupational Health and Safety, long term policy and strategy development and oversight of emergency data and systems
What will you do?
- Lead with excellence and accountability for an inclusive, proactive, innovative, respectful and progressive culture in the Fire Service
- Foster a respectful workplace culture through a values-based influencer approach and work collaboratively
- Provide excellent leadership to the team through development and coaching, performance evaluation and feedback, health and wellness, safety, recruitment and succession planning
- Support the Fire Chief in the design and implementation of the strategic direction for the Fire Service
- Liaise with other fire services leadership and external agencies to facilitate collaborative relationships
- Support the other Deputy Fire Chiefs, Fire Chief, the Deputy City Manager and Council by providing information and reports that allow them to make informed decisions
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with staff and the union executive to foster effective problem solving and innovation
- Keep current with advances in business practices, technology and technical information to ensure the best value for services is delivered. Collaborate and liaise with partners.
