Join a dynamic team dedicated to ensuring the safety and reliability of electrical systems at the City of Edmonton!

You will be responsible for maintaining and servicing critical equipment and systems, including power distribution, lighting systems, emergency generators, and fire alarm systems. One-third of the maintenance tasks you'll handle will have legislated requirements, making your role integral to ensuring compliance and safety standards are met.

With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

  • Preventative maintenance of various electrical systems by conducting routine inspections identifying issues through corrective maintenance
  • Install components, repair/replacement of existing equipment
  • Diagnose, clean, test, adjust, and repair electrical equipment problems and determine the best course of action for repair or replacement
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as power outages or electrical fires, to restore functionality and ensure the safety of occupants
  • On call rotational support for emergent and after hours requirements
  • Report on a daily basis the status of work progress and condition of equipment/systems
  • Operate service vehicles and maintain a "Truck Stock" consisting of tools and materials
  • Work collaboratively with other construction trades and contractors
  • Install data and phone cabling
  • Service and repair fire alarm systems, security card access systems, emergency power generators, uninterrupted power supply systems (UPS), main switch gear and sub-panels, public address/sound systems, scoreboards, heating/cooling appliances, motors, pool water treatment systems, gas detection monitors, overhead door/electric gate control systems and irrigation control systems
  • Inspect and report on the condition of building equipment and systems
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and clients to report findings, discuss solutions, and coordinate maintenance activities
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced electricians such as apprentices
  • Accurately record work in SAP by updating notes, time and SAP status changes
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices through training and professional development opportunities
  • Perform other related duties as required
