We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ETL (Extract Transform Load) Analyst to join the Edmonton Transit Service (ETS), Transit Service Development Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and delivering high quality data products to inform planning transit service. The primary responsibility is to develop ETL processes for organizing and extracting data from large and complex sources, with a focus on deriving actionable insights. This work will call upon you to apply cutting-edge techniques in data engineering and advanced analytics.

What will you do:

• Develop, implement and maintain scalable ETL processes using SQL, Python along with other programming languages and tools to extract, transform and load structured data from various sources

• Implement data quality checks, validation rules and error handling mechanisms to ensure data reliability, accuracy and completeness throughout the ETL process

• Create and optimize SQL queries / ETL workflows for performance, scalability and efficiency, taking into consideration large data volume and resource limitations

• Lead the analysis of transit-related data sets, providing advanced statistical information to ETS Transit Service Development and branch leadership

• Organize extensive datasets and create models that discern trends and cause-effect relationships, resulting in recommendations that measurably maximize operational efficiency

• Analyze ridership, on-time performance, schedule adherence, and other operational aspects to inform actionable decisions

• Develop dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau, Crystal Reports, etc. for application in operational settings

• Ensure high confidence interval calculations (95% CI) for ETS ridership calculations through statistically reliable processes

• Transform data into actionable insights to drive innovation and modernization

• Implement robust data governance processes to ensure transit data integrity

• Provide technical guidance and support, including mentoring junior data analyst(s), as well as collaborate with analysts across ETS and cross-functional teams

• Evaluate technologies and contribute to technology procurement projects
