Is your specialty Landscape Pest Control? We are looking for a qualified individual with a Landscape Pesticide Applicator License to perform services essential to Edmontonians' enjoyment of the outdoors! 

What will you do?

From May through October, you will work as a Pest Control Operator performing the following duties: 

  • Assign, supervise, and participate in applying pesticides to public parks, boulevards, and natural areas 
  • Participate in the control of noxious, prohibited noxious weeds and other unwanted vegetation found on city parkland 
  • Investigate and attempt to resolve complaints concerning any of the above vegetation management issues 
  • Maintain daily chemical record sheets listing what pesticides were used, areas treated and the types of pests encountered 
  • Conduct general surveys and investigate areas to determine noxious weed locations, infestation levels, and the effectiveness of control programs; prepare reports and maps that outline survey results 
  • Perform all forms of weed control as required (may include hand pulling or mechanical) 
  • Pre-treatment and post-treatment site inspection, monitoring and evaluation 
  • Set up, tear down, and calibrate all spray equipment to ensure the proper rate of application 
  • Perform minor maintenance/repairs on assigned equipment 
  • Mentor and coach staff in the field and may have an opportunity to act in the Licensed Crew Leader role as required 

From November through April, you will work as a Labourer II performing the following: 

  • Perform snow removal duties for the Active Pathways Snow Removal Program which may include but is not limited to: the operation equipment including John Deere 72” with a broom, Trackless MT, and Toolcat; applying Calcium Chloride; shoveling and blowing snow to maintain public access to City parks and facilities 
  • Adhere to existing standard operating procedures, and environmental and safety programs, as well as conduct Field Level Risk Assessments daily
  • Complete all required daily paperwork including, but not limited to, daily logs, vehicle and equipment inspections, and Field Level Risk Assessments
  • Provide customer service and communicate with the public and other employees professionally and respectfully 
  • Other related duties as required
