The Roadway Maintenance Leader II is a crucial role within our City Operations team. You'll be responsible for the daily supervision and guidance of field crews, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of tasks related to turf maintenance and snow and ice control. This includes scheduling, training, performance management, and promoting a positive and safe work environment. You'll play a key role in maintaining our city's infrastructure and ensuring our roads and public spaces are safe and accessible for all.
What will you do?
- Supervise and mentor a team of skilled and semi-skilled workers in various tasks, including turf maintenance, mowing, trimming, and snow and ice control
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and procedures, including OH&S, ENVISO, and City of Edmonton SOPs
- Conduct regular staff meetings, addressing safety concerns, work expectations, and cultural commitments
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing feedback and coaching to foster growth and development
- Collaborate with the Team Leader and Supervisor to implement work plans and ensure effective program delivery
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including the public, contractors, and other City departments
- Participate in safety investigations and contribute to the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Hazard Assessments (HA)
