Play a key role in safeguarding our community from flood risks while directly interacting with Edmonton residents. As a Lot Grading Inspector, you'll be the go-to expert, providing invaluable guidance to both residential and commercial property owners. Think of yourself as an educator and a problem-solver, ensuring everyone understands and adheres to the City's Drainage Bylaw, Lot Grading procedures, and related guidelines. What will you do?
- Verify the lot grading work of property owners, landscapers and grading contractors by conducting site inspection of residential, commercial, and industrial developments
- Assess potential impact of lot grading on adjacent properties, evaluate degree of non-conformance and conditionally approve or recommend proposals to rectify non-conformances
- Authorize rough and final lot grade certificates for residential, commercial and industrial developments
- Respond to inquiries verbally and through formal letters, utilizing knowledge of engineering principles and Drainage Bylaw 18093 explaining grading concepts, regulations and reasons of failed inspection
- Check lot grading certificates and lot grading plans for compliance with Drainage Bylaw 18093 and lot grading guidelines and ensure any special conditions are met
- Maintain the filing and database systems for all applicable lot grading cases and files
