Reporting to the Director, Disputes and Advisory Services, the Senior Lead guides a team of human resource professionals to provide comprehensive labour relations and client advisory services in a demanding fast-paced environment.
This leader inspires through action, demonstrating strong conflict resolution and labour relations skills. They use their exceptional interpersonal abilities and strategic mindset to effectively support their staff and clients, and to foster positive union relationships.
The successful candidate will cultivate collaborative relationships and leverage their expertise to influence direction and outcomes through all levels of the organisation to ensure success in this rewarding position.
What will you do?
- Mentor and guide a team of Labour Relations Consultants to interpret collective agreements, effectively manage workplace disputes and provide sound performance management advice to clients in a portfolio-based model
- Coach and support Labour Relations Consultants to understand client operational needs and challenges
- Strategically support the organization's management of disputes by identifying strategies to balance risks to ensure successful resolution
- Foster the development of strong and effective relationships between the team and unions through consultation, and open communication
- Support and advise clients throughout all stages of the grievance and arbitration processes
- Advance and ensure consistent application of strategic labour relations services across the City
- Establish the policy framework for client advisory services including the creation of effective tools, processes, and guidelines
- Apply advanced understanding of Alberta labour legislation including the Labour Relations Code, the Employment Standards Code, and the Alberta Human Rights Act to provide expert advice, identifying risks and develop mitigation strategies
