The City of Edmonton's Infrastructure Delivery Branch is currently seeking a motivated and skilled Survey Technical Assistant II to join their Survey Services team on a temporary full-time basis.
As a Survey Technical Assistant II, you will play a key role in supporting the Survey Technologist I (Survey Crew Lead) in conducting various field surveys. You will be responsible for operating technical survey equipment, performing technical computations, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of survey operations. This position requires a strong understanding of survey principles, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
What will you do?
- Assist the Survey Technologist I in all aspects of field survey operations, including locating survey marks, marking locations, taking measurements, and setting up and operating survey equipment
- Perform technical computations and data reductions to ensure the accuracy of survey data
- Maintain supplies for the crew and ensure that equipment is in good working order
- Provide on-the-job training for other crew members on the use of survey equipment and supplies
- Participate in consultations with Survey Technicians, Engineers, designers, supervisors, and client representatives
- Adhere to all applicable safety standards and guidelines, and participate in safety meetings and training
- Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) and report any safety issues or concerns
