Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month, exempt Rural Transition Navigator for 13th year rural transition students in the Entry Services Department. This position serves as a direct liaison between Clark College and students specified rural high schools participating in the Gates Foundation grant.
 
The Rural Transition Navigator will conduct regular outreach and engagement actions with high school students, including but not limited to, applying to Clark College, financial aid and scholarship preparation and completion, educating students about dual credit opportunities, and providing direct support with other admissions activities, preparing students for their orientation, and class registration experience. The Transition Recruiter will work closely with the High School College and Career Readiness Specialist at the rural high schools through regular communication, collaboration, data sharing, and training to support students' transition from high school to postsecondary opportunities. This position will also serve as the on-campus point of contact for students enrolling from the rural high schools and assist with retention of these students and department referrals.

Reporting to the Director of Entry Services, the Rural Transition Navigator will also support the Director and the Recruitment team in event planning and execution, recruitment, and engagement of prospective students within the college service district. This position requires high quality customer service and coordination through collaborative efforts across the division and the campus and provides a welcoming and inclusive experience for Clark College's diverse student population.
 
This position is grant funded for 3 years, with the option to continue after the grant is over, dependent upon funding.

Position Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate cultural competence, including awareness and understanding of historically underrepresented populations, and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Establish and maintain regular communication and coordination with High School College and Career Readiness Specialists to ensure seamless transition from high school to Clark College.
  • Be a generalist on all options related to enrollment: including options for programs and degrees, paying for college, student success resources, placement, student life, etc., and use that information to advise students through the enrollment process.
  • Serve as lead enrollment contact to prospective and new students from the designated rural high schools. Includes responding to prospective and new student inquiries/requests, gathering information for students, and making referrals as needed. 
  • Guide and navigate prospective and new students through the college's onboarding process, including: applying for admission, researching funding sources, career and program pathway clarity, program referrals, etc. 
  • Serve as point of contact for enrolled students from the designated rural high schools to ensure their smooth transition to college, academic success, and persistence from term to term. 
  • Provide outreach, including presentations and orientation to new and prospective students, high school counselors, Clark College advisors, and other parties as need to promote Clark College collaborative opportunities. 
  • Plan, facilitate, host outreach events for high school students, staff, faculty, and family members to participate.
  • Use of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to: enter prospective student information, track and follow up with prospective students and applicants, use CRM data to prepare reports and provide recommendations and keep accurate records of enrollment appointments with students. 
  • Manage a designated group of new students to complete welcoming activities and communications.
  • Monitor enrollment and achievement indicators to ensure access, retention, and completion of inclusive/diverse student populations. 
  • Assist with Student Orientations and work closely with student ambassadors and the One-Stop to ensure students seamless onboarding.
  • Collaborate with key campus stakeholders including enrollment services, advising, career services and financial aid, etc. to ensure effective student matriculation. 
  • Collaborate with instructional units to understand current and new program offerings. 
  • Establish and maintain relationships across campus to deliver a universal message to prospective and new students about Clark College. 
  • In support of the Director of Entry Services, develop and implement communication plans to keep prospective students on track with key activities that are in alignment with the annual recruitment plan. 
  • Participate in designated college committees, councils, and teams, as appropriate. 
  • Work to create a supportive onboarding experience in support of the college's social equity plan. 
  • Provide leadership in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values established by the College. 
  • Create a safe, bias-free working environment, which engenders respect for differences.  
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND one (1) year of working with K-12 schools, non-profit, postsecondary, or government OR equivalent related education and work experience.
  • One (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite 
  • One (1) year of experience using a Customer Relationship Management system, and/or student data management system.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance.

  • Ability to regularly lift 25lbs and sit for prolonged periods of time at a workstation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with diverse groups and individuals; strong public speaking skills to large and small groups.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, with appropriate notice. Ability to adapt and respond within changing situations.
  • Ability to work independently and accomplish duties with limited supervision in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated experience in and commitment to social justice and eliminating systemic disparities.

SALARY RANGE: $59,801- 69,243 annually (commensurate with qualifications and experience).  Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
