Our Hickory Community Based Out-patient Clinic (CBOC) is seeking a full-time primary care physician (MD/DO) to join us at the largest clinic extension of the Charles George Veteran Affairs (VA) Medical Center. Our Hickory CBOC is located in beautiful Hickory, NC- voted by the Travel + Leisure website as the #1 most affordable and beautiful place to live in 2023 and is approximately 1-hr from Charlotte, NC, and Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT).

Our primary care provider will join 1 of 10 Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACTs), dedicated to a multidisciplinary approach to caring for our nation's veterans and will report directly to a supervisory Medical Director. This clinic serves approximately 7000 veterans and is ideal for someone looking to grow in responsibility over time.

This position requires no call coverage and has an ideal Monday through Friday workday (8-4:30 pm) with an opportunity for a compressed schedule.

An incentive is available with a 3-year commitment to highly competitive candidates.

VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50–55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for Continued Medical Education (CME))
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) eligible: Up to $200K over a 5-year period.
