Description

We are looking to add a skilled Neurologist to our Richmond VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia VA Richmond Health Care | Veterans Affairs. We are seeking a highly motivated Board Eligible/Board Certified General Neurologist with a preference for inpatient consultation interest. This position requires a combination of inpatient consultative and outpatient neurology care and is a full-time and on-site opportunity. The physician must have a full and unrestricted medical license from any state or territory, who shares our commitment to providing excellent care to our US Veterans.

Major Duties / Responsibilities

  • Provides a full range of general neurology services including assessment and using the most appropriate techniques in providing quality care in outpatient and inpatient neurology care settings.
  • Teaching is an integral part of the work of a VA staff Neurologist. Teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows is required.
  • Shares/rotates call responsibilities with other neurology physicians in the service.
  • Collaborates with midlevel providers and physician colleagues with clear communication and documentation.
  • Work will be a combination of on-site and remote telework as the needs of the service/division dictate based on space. Physicians are expected to be proficient in evaluation and management of patients both through in person and virtual telehealth visits.

  • Excellent compensation – Competitive salary ranges from $250,000 - $300,000 per year based on qualifications, with biennial market pay reviews. Up to $15K annual performance bonus and annual increase in wages based upon Cost-of-Living Allowance and longevity.
  • Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - Up to $200,000 in student loan repayment – based on work commitment.
  • Excellent daily work schedule – Monday thru Friday – 8:00 am – 4:30 pm standard schedule with rotating call for weekday evenings and weekends. Limited on-call coverage responsibilities
  • Generous time away from practice – Up to 55 days of paid time off per year, 26 days of annual leave, 13 annual sick days and 11 paid federal holidays
  • Up to 5 days off may be approved to attend approved CME for Full-Time Board-Certified physicians.
  • Great medical and retirement benefits with up to 5% employer TSP matching & Federal Retirement Pension. Employees are vested after 5 years of full-time employment.
  • Academic Association with Virginia Commonwealth University / Medical College of Virginia Neurology Residency Program with ample opportunities to be engaged in GME resident education on site.
  • Insurance – Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care available (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
  • Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting. Provided Federal tort reform liability protection and malpractice tail coverage.
