The VA San Diego Healthcare System is seeking an experienced Sleep Medicine Physician to serve as our Sleep Medicine Section Chief at the Jennifer Moreno Medical Center in La Jolla, CA.
The VA San Diego Healthcare System is seeking a board-certified physician in Sleep Medicine with primary training in Internal Medicine or Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine. Candidates should have prior supervisory experience, training, and experience in Sleep Medicine, and possess a strong commitment to direct patient care and teaching of students, residents, and fellows.
This is a full-time supervisory position with primary emphasis in Sleep Medicine Program management, patient care, interpretation of sleep recordings, supervision of staff physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, sleep technicians, and clinical teaching.
This position requires a clinical appointment with our academic affiliate, the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. The candidate must have or obtain a current unconditional Medical License from any state or territory and must be eligible for a Federal Appointment. The candidate will have opportunities for scholarly activities that may include collaboration with funded investigators, publication of original clinical research, presentation of lectures, or development of curricular or teaching materials.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30pm excluding Federal Government holidays. Opportunity for compressed schedule available.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Unrestricted U.S. Medical License.
- Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited fellowship in Sleep Medicine.
- 5 years of post-fellowship experience in Sleep Medicine.
- Board Certification within Sleep Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience.
- Post Graduate training experience.
- Research experience.
- Sleep Lab development experience.
- Sleep Medicine fellowship program development experience.

- $315,000 - $370,000 compensation package based on training, experience, and local labor market.
