This position serves as a clinical nurse leader primarily focusing on the roles/responsibilities of the Infection Preventionist and facilitating survey readiness and response visits to our eight (8) MN Veterans Homes. This individual will provide guidance and mentorship to our MN Veterans Home nurse leaders and support clinical best practice standards and ensure regulatory requirements are met. This individual will work with the clinical leadership team to build training and competency and serves as the subject matter expert for infection prevention related policies and procedures and clinical best practice standards. This individual will work to ensure that information regarding regulatory updates, new rules or requirements, clinical pathways, innovations in clinical care or evaluation methods are communicated to the Central Office and Facility Clinical Teams to develop implementation strategies for informing, educating, and auditing compliance.
The Minnesota Veterans home locations are : Preston, Luverne, Fergus Falls, Montevideo, Bemidji, Silver Bay, Hastings, and Minneapolis. The incumbent of this position will require traveling to all Minnesota Veterans Homes and will require to be onsite depending on business needs. This position will be working out of one of the eight Minnesota Veterans Home as agreed upon by the agency and incumbent.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions.
Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse with Infection prevention and Quality Improvement.
Knowledge of state and federal standards in skilled nursing facility/long term care, certification, and infection prevention.
Communications skill sufficient to develop and deliver training/education and explain complex terms and concepts to a diverse audience.
**Preferred Qualifications**
Experience with Quality Assurance Performance Improvement strategies.
CertificationinInfection Prevention, QAPI (Quality Assurance Performance Improvement), Gerontology,orotherrelatedfield such as Wound Certification, Nurse Executive Certification.
Experience inClinical care needs of theelderly,thoseattheendoflife,andVeterans.
Experience delivering health care education.
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Nursing.
