**Position Summary:** The Oncology Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice in an oncology setting; accountable for the outcomes of nursing care deliveries in the outpatient oncology and infusion services setting. Provide safe, effective, appropriate and comprehensive infusion services to oncology patients. Monitors drug therapy and identifies drug related problems such as drug-drug interaction, adverse reactions, and inadequate therapy; takes appropriate steps to resolve drug related problems. Coordinates, provides and ensures a continuum of care by collaborating with other healthcare providers both within and outside of the organization. The certified oncology nurse demonstrates, through patient care, both specialized knowledge and experience in cancer care. Maintains evidence of training and continued education in oncology specific opportunities and completing other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education:**
Associates Degree in Nursing (AND), required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), preferred.
**Experience:**
Minimum of one (1) year direct nursing service provision in an oncology setting, preferred.
Experience in outpatient Oncology and Infusion RN services, preferred.
**Licensure/Certification:**
Current RN licensure in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Nursing (SCLLR), required.
Successful completion of Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy/Biotherapy (online) certification within 6-9 months of employment.
Current Oncology Certification (OCN) through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC), preferred. If hired with no current OCN certification, the employee partner will obtain OCN certification at own expense when eligible or maintain 12 cancer related CEU's annually from the start date of employment or transfer into job with Tidelands Health (TH). ONC is not required, although it is highly encouraged.
American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational Development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.
**Physical Requirements:** **Light-Medium** Physical Agility Testing (PAT) Rating
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is **frequently** (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; **frequently** to use hands, fingers; and **frequently** to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force **occasionally** (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force **frequently** , and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force **constantly** to move objects.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and will be measured by post offer Physical Agility testing with a required " **Light-Medium** " rating to verify ability to meet the requirement.
